21世紀(jì)的特點是政治多極化、經(jīng)濟全球化、文化多元化和信息社會化。在這個瞬息萬變、飛速發(fā)展的新世紀(jì)里，我國的高等教育事業(yè)在前十年里加速騰飛，由此帶來了英語專業(yè)的迅猛發(fā)展，使得英語語言文學(xué)專業(yè)的本科生和碩士生人數(shù)每年遞增。作為英語專業(yè)教學(xué)的重要組成部分，英美文學(xué)教學(xué)所受到的關(guān)注程度還不盡如人意。我們編寫這本《精編英國文學(xué)教程》，希望能夠在提高學(xué)生的英國文學(xué)學(xué)習(xí)興趣和鑒賞能力方面盡綿薄之力，給予一定的幫助。
英國文學(xué)是世界文學(xué)的重要組成部分。在16世紀(jì)上半葉，英國文學(xué)便異軍突起；到16世紀(jì)下半葉，以莎士比亞為代表的一批作家將英國文學(xué)的旗幟插上了歐洲文藝復(fù)興運動的頂峰。從此，英國文學(xué)一直屹立于世界文學(xué)之林。
《精編英國文學(xué)教程》是杭州電子科技大學(xué)“英美文學(xué)導(dǎo)論”校級與省級精品課程建設(shè)的重要組成部分。在多年的課程建設(shè)中，課程組所有成員認(rèn)真?zhèn)湔n，精心制作出內(nèi)容豐富、生動形象的教學(xué)課件，搜集了大量的教學(xué)資料，如英國文學(xué)經(jīng)典影片、文化背景等視頻圖像，并不斷總結(jié)、積累和交流教學(xué)經(jīng)驗，這些都為本教材的編寫打下了良好的基礎(chǔ)。它的編寫原則充分體現(xiàn)了本學(xué)科先進的教學(xué)思想，編寫過程中緊緊圍繞英語人才培訓(xùn)的目標(biāo)和思路，力求層次分明，條理清晰，章節(jié)安排合理，既突出重點、難點，又強調(diào)對本課程基礎(chǔ)知識的全面理解和掌握。
